Prepare light dough
Put the baking mix for the light dough, soft butter and a tablespoon of water into a mixing bowl. Knead with an electric hand mixer (dough hook) or by hand until the dough is smooth and form into a ball.
Prepare red dough
Put the baking mix for the red dough, soft butter and a tablespoon of water into a mixing bowl. Knead with an electric hand mixer (dough hook) or by hand to form a smooth dough and form into a ball. Now let both balls rest in the fridge for about 30 minutes. A longer cooling time makes it easier.
Processing the dough. Forming candy canes:
Roll out one strand of dough from the light and one from the red dough and divide it into 10 equal portions using a knife. Twist one light and one red roll together, press them together lightly, shape them into a candy cane and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack. The baking time can vary depending on the thickness and size of the candy canes.
